Times have changed. In the 1970s, less than 5% of 15-year-old girls had engaged in sexual intercourse. By 1997, that had grown to 38% of girls. For boys, the statistics were just as startling: In the ’70s, only 20% of 15-year-old boys had had sex, compared to 45% in 1997. But for parents worried about missing the boat on having “the talk” with their already knowledgeable teens, it’s not too late.
